Flea Battle

Since I have been caring for so many strays and feral cats, plus our own animals, I have been fighting an endless flea battle. If ignored, animals and humans will develop medical problems caused by fleas. Do not allow your animals, children or your home to be invaded by pests that will cause suffering.  Sadly, fleas are everywhere and reproducing faster than one dose of flea treatment will end.

If one was to examine their pet and home, they would find hundreds or thousands of fleas or flea eggs. They are small but cause a big problem. If left unchecked, these pests reproduce in cycles which prevent a single dose of flea treatment from working on all your pest problem. Consider the thousands of fleas that await your pet outside. Animals are defenseless every time they go outside or those that live outside. Please treat your pet and the areas they live before that pest invades your body too.

Fleas suck blood from their hosts to survive many times a day and many pets will go to an extreme to stop the fleas feeding on them. They will scratch, roll on the ground or up against furniture and ultimately chewing on themselves to remove the flea or stop the flea from biting. If your house has carpets or your pets get on your furniture, then you are at risk for being invaded by fleas. Flea bites on humans can be eased with an anti-itch cream but your pets will need flea treatments every 3 to 4 weeks. Treat your outdoor space and eliminate anywhere a flea could hide.

It is an endless battle for the strays I feed. Some are sick and bald from the fleas but I do try to treat the ones I can hold long enough for drops. I have not found a product to eliminate all fleas for very long but they do help prevent being invaded. I am always seeking help for the cats in our area and I hope you are working on the fleas in your space. Brace yourself against this tiny invader.

I love my children dearly and our efforts to help others or animals. My mission for this blog will be to inform others about the issues we face assisting the abandoned or stray/feral cats in our neighborhood. We accept all forms of help and we are just a small family trying to impact the group of cats in near our home. Food and toys, cat litter and litter pans, are always needed but cash donations need to go to a vet in our area. We are not a charity yet but we do what we can. Please contact me if you have anything you could contribute to our efforts. Thank you for your time and support.
